This week we chose the star fruit and the white sapote. The star fruit was the favorite. Matt especially like it :) At first, Kenna said it smelled like a glade air freshner, which it kinda did, and the texture is similar to a very juicy grape. The star fruit is grown mostly in Asia.
The white sapote is the size of an apple and is native to Eastern Mexico and Central America. When we cut into it - it reminded me of an avocado but it had two pits. The flesh is creamy and custard like - so cool. The taste reminded me of a banana with avocado texture...really crazy. The kids didn't like it at all.
This was a fun way to learn something new over the summer. Next summer maybe we'll adventure into veggies....eggplant......leeks.....kohlrabi?????
