Three Cheers

For three tiers!!

My Mom had planned on making this pink lemonade cake for our fathers day lunch - she was not feeling well so I thought I would make it and try out the new oven.

Fantastic - I was able to bake all three layers at once (which was a happy thing because it was about midnight ;)

Happy father's day to my awesome Dad, Father-in-law and my awesome Hubby!

My Pal

It's hard work being this cute!

Moving Day!

With the help of a couple of great friends who gave up a few hours of their Saturday morning - we finally moved in the appliances that have been sitting patiently in our garage for 15 months....

Jeff and Shawn worked hard all day installing everything - thanks guys!

AND...to celebrate - we put that new oven to use and made a yummy dinner!

We still have alot to do but it is so nice to be at the point where we can cook, wash dishes and goodbye wobbly leaning blue card table - and hello kitchen table! OH how we've missed you!  Thanks Dad for all your hard work - we love it!

Happy Campers

Kenn and her friends are off to girls camp! I love all these girls...I am thankful everyday that she has such a great group of friends.

They had a sleep over here last week to celebrate the last day of school.  Before bed, they were all in the bathroom and as I walked by I heard someone ask to how to spell a word....well...the Mom in me was sure they were texting...so I asked who on earth they were texting this late and Kenn poked her head out and said they were writing in their journals.  Here were these cute girls sitting on the floor of the bathroom writing in their journals!! :)  :)  :)

We miss you Q....hurry home!

First Harvest

We had a yummy spinach salad this past weekend and it was right from our garden - I was so excited!
(might I add that's a pretty darn good lookin' sink :)

Our first batch of radishes are almost ready and this warm weather has sure made our little plants happy.
Our chives are huge and have so many blossoms.

I hope every one is enjoying this time of year...happy gardening!

Tears of Joy

I had the pleasure of having a plumber come to the house today.  It was short notice, he gave us a fantastic price, (family friend) and as I teared up as he showed me the working sink and dishwasher...he didn't give me too hard of a time :)
Dumb huh...but...in my defese...there is alot of emotion wrapped up in our little project. To be this close to completion is just pretty darn exciting.
I spent the evening cleaning the floor and countertops, buying dishwasher soap (yay) and traveling davis county in search for a large area rug for the dining room.  I had so much fun, I may just do it again tomorrow!

Our Graduate

Our Kristen did it! She is officially graduated.  I can't believe she is eighteen and off to college this fall.
I am so honored to have had this girl in my life.

I look up to her and not just because I come to her arm pit, ha ha.  She is a hard worker and always seems to be pushing herself just a little bit more.  She has so many accomplishments we are proud of, but as I watched her tonight, with that smile of hers, I was reminded of her sweet nature and how she is a choice daughter of our Heavenly Father.
Kristen with Dad, her Grandpa B and Grandpa and Grandma S.

Thanks for letting me share the last 8 years of your life with you. I love you!

A Remarkable Soul

Sunday was my Mother's birthday.  So this is a tribute to my Mom.  She does not use the computer...she might never see this post...but I love ya Mom!

Among other things my Mother taught us the importance of enjoying the small things in life. The smell of a candle, the colors of a bird, lace on a tablecloth....tiny bells on a flower.  She is the party planner extaordinaire! And on a small budget - her little touches amazed all at our birthday parties, holidays, and family get togethers. She was always clipping ideas out of magazines - decorating, recipes, or fun crafts for us to do.  When I visited the other day she had a few pages from a magazine with a new recipe to try and it just warmed my heart and brought back wonderful memories.
She has always served the Lord and others around her.  She has always had health problems but many wouldn't know it because she never complains. Even now as she battles kidney and liver disease, she continues to care for my Grandmother and those around her.  She is beautiful on the inside and out.  She created a place where we could learn and be loved.  She can sing, paint, sew, play the piano (self taught), crochet, knit, watercolor, garden, cook........I could go on.  (As I was struggling with a recent sewing project, one of my first, ...Matt kindly wondered why I was having so much trouble 'cause "Grandma is so good at it" ha ha...maybe that darn apple does fall a little far some times....)  I will be forever greatful for all she has taught me, and for the things she tried to teach me but I was to stubborn to learn at the time ;)
She brings joy to everything around her.  In President Uchtdorf's book The Remarkable Soul of A Woman....one part really reminded me of my Mom.
"Creation means bringing into existence something that did not exist before - colorful gardens, harmonious homes, family memories, flowing laughter."
She is truly a Remarkable Soul.  Thanks Mom for blessing the lives of us...and many generations to come.
