The "M" word

If you haven't guessed - it's maturation. This word, as a parent, you have to let sink in slowly.
I went with Matt in fifth grade and tdh went with him for 6th (thank goodness!)
Why does it seem like such a big deal to go with my little girl? It is because she is not little
anymore...but, she will always be my little girl. What happened to these days.........
I am happy to say that I cherished every moment - colic, eating bugs, laughing, ear infections, playing trains, potty training (??mmm...ok - I am getting carried away...funny how the memory fades..lol)... I loved it all.

I now have a son who is a teenager and a girl who will be in young women's in September. Matthew is as tall as me (hey - I know that's not much :) We bought his pants in the men's department the other day - whaaaat?
I am so happy Heavenly Father trusted me with their care and I am proud to be their mother.
I love you guys!!!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

I have had a few people refer to the word "beauty" in my direction this week.
Though I don’t feel very beautiful – it is very nice to hear. It occurred to me - enjoy these words from loved ones, we often feel very UN beautiful (is that a word?) most days. Take what others see in you
and embrace it. They see our beauty on the inside. They will surely see more "beauty" than we will ever allow ourselves to see.
My tall dark and handsome – of course, always greet’s me on the phone this way “Hello Beautiful” or
“Hi Gorgeous” ...warms my heart.
I brought my Nana and Mom over for lunch the other day and my Nana said, Melanie
do you know you are beautiful?…I of course commented something sarcastic and threw
in an eye roll. She said you really are, I was just watching you walk past and thought
how beautiful you are. Thanks Nan!
Matt and I were sitting in my bed working on his homework last night and he said Mom, you are
beautiful. Well thanks Matt, followed by a signature eye roll.
What a sweet boy and yes - you still have to finish this homework, lol.

So, though none of the above statements have any truth to them– for what it is worth,
my husband who is blinded by love, my Son who doesn’t
know any better, or my dear almost legally blind Nana, think I am beautiful.

I'll take it.

Cooties

After asking Makenna the usual daily question of "How was your day?" this particular
conversation besides leaving me in stitches was just such a typical Kenna response that I had
to share :0)

"Great, we got to dance with the sixth graders."
“I danced with Ben today – he is the kid that no one knows his last name. I could
have danced with Alex – he is the most popular kid in 6th grade. I don’t think he has
very clean hands, though.”
I nodded and had to chuckle to myself – she then continued….
“Alex danced with Jocelyn, but that’s ok because I don't think her hands are
very clean either.”

Now if I can just get her to clean her room......
