Ta-Da

Ta-Da! What an amazing transformation. We are the proud parents (?) of a beautiful monarch butterfly!

First the chrysalis turned dark black...and then translucent.


Then he emerged and crawled up
the leaf. Our book told us that the male
butterflies have a small dot on the wings...
you can barely see it in the pic below.
So...our Katie caterpillar is now
"Miguel" the monarch...funny huh!




What beauty! We had about twleve
little neighboor hood kids over to watch.
How fun! After we went into the house and
there was the wilted milkweed and empty cocoon,
I felt a little sad for a minute...Kenna came up behind me
and put her arm around me and said, it's "ok Mom,
we can do it again next year."
This experience has been a great reminder of the
beauty and miracles of nature. And, to enjoy
the little things..for they are indeed the greatest!

oh how neat!! Thank you so much for sharing this. =) It's just amazing what little miracles are around us everyday. That is so cute that Kenna said that. =)
